Baby baby

I've been very busy taking all the pictures of the new mums who volunteered for my entering motherhood project. I think I've only got three mums out of seventeen left to photograph so nearly there! I'm hoping to have an exhibition of the work at Venetia's Cafe on the Chatsworth Road in the new year which I'm really excited about. In the meantime, here's one of the new mum's new babies.

This brother and sister just loved having their photograph taken. These are some of my favourites from their session the other week with mum. All a surprise for dad.

More Mums-to-be

I've had a great response to my entering motherhood project and have been enjoying meeting lots of first time mums-to-be. Here are some of my favourite portraits from the past few weeks. Next week I'm going back to photograph the first mum to have had her baby.

How to make a difference

I've started up a new blog which will feature the stories and pictures of inspiring people who are making the world better in a variety of ways. This is something I've been working on in book form for a few years but now I'm going to be updating it with weekly "how to make a difference" blogs.

Jill is a friend of mine who is expecting her first baby in a few weeks and looking very glamorous with it!

Entering Motherhood Project

I met another lovely mum-to-be this week. I'm still looking for volunteers for my Entering Motherhood project if you know any first time mums in North or East London who might be interested. (I can't travel far as I'm doing it for free!)

Paul and Lara

Paul and Lara are getting married in March and so we decided to mark the occasion with a photo session around St Pauls and Smithfields, near where they live.

Entering Motherhood Project

I am currently taking photos of women before and after they have their first child. The idea is to try and capture some of the unique changes that a woman goes through at this point in their lives. So far, I've only done some before photos. Here are a few of my favourites.

It was the Real Nappy Christmas Party this week - Hackney's attempt to promote the use of cloth nappies. I was working for Hackney Council again to try and capture the mood of the day.

Clapton Characters

I've been meaning to start photographing people in my neighbourhood, but hadn't plucked up courage until I was caught out with my camera by James, pictured here. He's often seen on Lower Clapton Road and had plenty of advice to give me on this day about how to hold my camera (and it was good advice too, I think!).

Tim Harford's new book, the Undercover Economist, is out now! Here's one of the publicity shots which I took for the book.

I've been doing the publicity photos for Tim Harford's new TV show on BBC2 - "Trust me I'm economist", so I'll be posting a few of them here. This one was taken in Roka, a top London restaurant, where Tim uses economic theory to help a wanna-be Maitre d' get a foot in the door.

Phil Harvey

Phil Harvey is another of the fascinating characters who I interviewed for my book. He runs the charity DKT International which helps to distribute contraception and promote family planning throughout the developing world. The really interesting bit is that he funds the charity from the profits of his business, Adam and Eve, the largest on-line retailer of "Adult Merchandise" in the US.

November Photos

Things have been busy. In September my hard drive died and since then I've been so busy taking photos, going to photography classes and with life in general that three months have gone by without updating my website. Sorry! Anyway, here are some new photos and you can expect more soon.

August Photos

August was a busy month! I was an official wedding photographer for the first time and I started interviewing again for my book. This time I met Kimberly Wilson who is the Creative Director of Tranquil Space, a yoga studio in Washington DC. She's an amazing woman and apart from helping to empower individuals through their yoga practise her studio is really active in the local community and with various chosen charities. More on this later, but for now here's some of the photos from this month.
